Well, its all been done!!!
It took me two days, though, because I like taking my time with my car.
The EGR tube was a PITA to get loose to rotate, but once it could be rotated, it fit perfectly on the new headers. I had to use two wrenches, one on the bolt and one on the housing, and another wrench to force those two to turn.
The bolts after the collectors were the other biggest problem. Four bolts, and one major headache! I even went to rent an electronic impact wrench, and it wasn't strong enough. I got a Dye Grinder to grind the bolts off, but could only reach one. Finally, I used an entire can of super thread penetrator, a long ratchet extension, a break bar, and a breaker bar extension. My friend an I pushed/pulled as hard as we could, and one by one, the bolts came loose. Believe it or not, one of the bolts sparked as it came loose! SOB's...
The headers did slide right in. I had to remove an entire vacuum assembly on the passenger side, but that was just a whole bunch of hose clamps being loosened. But once that was out, reaching the headers was the easiest thing in the world! I only wish I had done that when changing the spark plugs earlier.
Speaking of spark plugs, I changed those from Bosch 2 to Autolite Platinums gapped to .054 since I run MSD ignition/Coil/Accell cap and Rotor.
What a fun weekend. |
