Default manual rack vs. power steering

is there really a big difference between manual rack and power steering when it comes to streetability. i know the manual rack will be harder but how hard will it be? i dont want the drag of the power steering pump but i still what general ease with steering. whats your input?

To me it wouldent be worth loosing p/s for such a small gain. Some might not agree but its just my personal opinion.ive still got my p/s & a/c also.I want to keep the few "luxories" that my mustang has.

the horsepower gain from ditching P/S is useless. that shouldnt be the reason you go to manual steering. The only reason to do so would be because you LOVE the way manual steering feels.

In my opinion, its AWESOME. i love manual steering on sports cars. the responsiveness is great at highspeeds, you can feel every bit of the road, and get much better feedback from the car, IN MY OPINION (keep that in mind, because i dont want you to switch because of what i say, this is ALL opinion).

HOWEVER, trying to parallel park with manual steering SUCKS lol. or any type of low speed, tight manuevering.

The flaming river quick ration rack seems nice, with only 3 and 3/4 turns from lock to lock. sounds like a pretty fast turner.

im looking into it myself.
but thats down the road.

do some research first, maybe find an older car with manual steering and test drive it.

youre actually supposed to put some kind of "loop" on the power steering rack to make it like a manual rack. i think its some kind of bypass hose/hardline that keeps a little bit of fluid inside the rack for adequate pressure. but no, it probably wouldnt be much different.

A power rack with no fluid and a manual rack are night and day of each other. The benefits are just not really anything and a manual rack with a quick ratio cost twice of a power rack and that 3hp to turn a power steering pump is nothing.
