Default Question on 347 Kit

What is the 347 kit? What does it come with? Do you use it with a stock motor? Looking to take a stock motor and build it up then swap motors in my car. To whoever has a 347 kit how happy are you with it? What kind oh HP does the 347 stroker put out?

Thanks
Henry

if you have a summit catalog, its in engine & components section, but in any 5.0 mag there are always ads for them. my particular ap is bored .030, 3.40" crank and 4340 rods. the crank increases stroke on the engine and changes the cubic inches from 302 to 347. a big horsepower gain is the result. prices vary from 1,000 up t0 1,500. they work with a stock 5.0 block and most stock parts, but i would recommend other performance mods on top end. in my opinion, they are bad ass! have any other questions, id be glad to help.

Before you do the stroker kit, what do you do with the car? see, some people think bigger is better and they go and get all the cheap stuff and only get 30k miles out of there motor. my buddy has a little 306(lol like it's really little) and it puts alot of cars to shame. before you do anything you need to talk to someone that has experiance, like your local engine machine shop, and let them tell you what combinations you should run. you could do the 347 stroker motor and it could really suck if your other engine compenants don't match or work together, i learned the hard way, so go talk to someone. oh, 347's kick butt!!! sorry for rambling on, Jon

There is also the combo with the 5.315" rods which uses a piston that doesn't have the piston pin intersecting the oiling ring groove. From what I have heard/read when the pin intersects the ring groove it tends to start burning oil after so many of miles. I don't know this from experiance but i'll find out soon as the rotating assembly I put together uses 5.400 rods.
