I went to the track last night ,i made 3 passes and the best time i got was 15.7 in the 1/4. Anyway i thouhgt it should a lot faster then that. Can someone please tell me what is wrong? I have 89 GT 5.0 5 speed,BBK cold air intake fender mount 2 flowmaster 40,B&M shot throw ripper, evrything else is all stock.
Have you ever drag raced before? How long have you been driving a manual car? Dont mean to insult you or anything but just some ideas, maybe you just need to work on your shifting.

OOORAAHH!!!
no offense or anything. But your car is basically stock, you have the intake but no exhuast or headers. you have the shifter but you may not be the best driver. I mean you need stuff on your car to get low 12's i run mid to low 12's but i have things done to my car and i believe to be a good driver..
Its not just the car. its the driver. Mustangs in my eyes are the hardest cars to drive.

Mine was slow with street tires in the 1/8" 9.96 at 79 either crappy auto or the used tires lol what you guys think? think my 60 FT's were about 2.5 lost damn papers damn that avatar lol why can't she be on my hood! hehehe
You should be able to run in the mid to upper 14's with a stock set up. Don't go through the water box or smoke your tires if your using street tires. Launch at about 3000, shift at 5500, if you have a manual 5 speed. There was a person at the track I go to with a fully stock 90 Gt Mustang with street tires running mid 14's all day. Check your motor and make sure everything is right. Plugs, plug wires, cap and rotor needs to be updated? Simple stuff. Advance your timing, K&N filter, oil change, all the basic stuff. You won't believe what a difference it will make.
Good Luck
Stang1187. You must have a non stock motor, 347 stroker?, heads, supercharger or running nitros to be in the mid to low 12's. What do you have? I don't care how good of a driver anyone is, your not going into the 12's with a stock motor or no power adders.
13's with heads on a stocker
11's with a stroker

Dude that is not true at all..My buddy ran a stock 302 in his coupe..He ran 12.4-12.7..I forget which though All he had was the trick flow heads and intake and the other basic bolt ons..His 87 gt with stock heads and trick flow intake ran 13.0.
A guy here ran 11.80 in a stock 2valve saturday night..He has just basic bolt ons and suspension work.He pulled 1.5 60's all night..He is the crew chief for Shawn Johnsons F/S nmra car...
That's right Bomber. Your buddy had heads and most likely a tune . When i say stock, I'm talking stock heads. No bottom end work. No power adders. Basically, a stock motor won't run in the 12's or 11.80. If so, tell me how!

Of course you are not going to take an 87-95 stang right of the showroom floor and run 12's..His gt ran 13.0 with stock heads...No bottom end work no power adders just bolt ons...Intake,tb, cai, gears that stuff...No chip or tune on a dyno..his 91 coupe ran the 12.40's or 70's...That was just trick flow stuff..No bottom end work or tune...If you want to run ggod #'s you have to switch a few things around..It also depends on your idea of stock...The guys who run factory stock run high 11's all day..The record is 11.3' or 11.4's...
Way back in MM&FF when you could still buy Fox Stangs new, they bought a Coupe stripped it of excess weight and put a short belt on it and they got in the high 12s, people were actually calling Ford and complaining that they couldnt get their cars to go that fast.

kinda like their recent article where they sent two new s197's into the 12's just by doing everyday bolt-ons and weight reduction... they actually got one of them to get the front tires off the ground, on stock suspension.... crazy.
