you certainly do need help! by polluting and contributing to green house gasses you are a bad man! you should be jailed for that...

hahaha! just kidding but you don't need to loose emissions just to add 3 horse power you may even loose power. o2 sensors and cats are used by the ecu for information.

I want to eliminate smog pump too. I have searched the site to see if there is a complete list of what you can or cant take off. I cant seem to find exactly what Im looking for. All I get is bits and pieces from previous posts. I would like to clean up the look of engine bay the best I can. I still want to run my a/c. If anyone has done this
please post complete list of everything that can be taken off and things to watch for. Thanks Mike

I have removed pretty much everything except the EGR( should be gone in a week or so). I have a o/r BBK X-Pipe and it still has the o2's in it 5.0 resto sells a smog pump delete kit, basically a piece of aluminum that has the stock bolt holes with a pulley on it. Everything that went to my smog pump is sitting in my shop just in case emissions come my way, but all that is on the pass. side of my engine bay is my headers and the air intake piping. Car runs fine, gets 22-23 mpg and I drive it 160 miles every day. It was worth removing to me.

I still need to know what you took off, plugged, covered etc. I can have my Brother cut something on the cnc mill to delete smog pump. Does anyone know the size of belt I will need. I still plan to run the a/c.

stock belt will be fine if you make something that will utilize the bolt holes where the smog pump went. I pulled EVERYTHING off. The rubber hoses that go to the smog pump and then to the charcoal canister and go along the pass. side around the back of the block and then down to the stock H pipe, it is all gone. There is a metal pipe that bolts on the back of both heads and it hooks up to the rubbers hoses that go to the smog pump, I had to plug those holes by making a piece that bolted to the head in its place. There is also a hose running from under the upper intake manifold and goes across the motor down to the smog pump that will have to be cut and plugged as well. The metal pipe that goes from the stock h pipe to the smog pump system will have to be cut and plugged also. If you are getting a new mid pipe then just get block it off while you are installing it. I can take some pics of the stuff I have taken off, let me know.

Thats what Im talking about sxrpGT, Thank you very much. Yes, it would help if you post some pics. I just put BBK equals on last week. this weekend I put BBK off-road H pipe on. Flowmasters the rest of the way back. Did you notice anything different after removed it. I know some guys have problems after removing smog pump. I dont know if they didnt do it right or what. I just want to be sure that Im doing it right. Thanks Mike

I didnt have any issues with it running weird. I took the smog pump off and it ran fine with everything plugged up. I have MAC eqauls and the rubber hoses for the smog crap fell on them and burned through so I just yanked it all off. I think it runs a little better becasue I now get better gas mileage with it than I did before when i had everything on there. ( Could be just what i have added though) My EGR is next to go because I dont like there so it gets the axe. I will try to get some pics. LEt me know if you have any questions.

I added my headers after I took the smog pump off( I plugged every thing up at first but then the headers burnet some things so I just pulled the rest out) and then I had the car tuned up and like I said 22-23 mpg on a 211K motor running 89 octane fuel. I also added a different air filter and cleaned my MASS air sensor, had my throtttle body cleaned. I made sure my TPS was set at the correct voltage( there is a tech article on how to do that in the 5.0 section), had my IAC motor sonic tanked. I didnt add much more than the headers and swapped out my Prochamber for a BBK O/R Xpipe.
Even if you dont gain that much HP from it I believe it is worth it just to have the stuff out of your way when it comes to working on the car.

I have owned my 90lx for about 2 months now. My car just turned over 69,000 orig. miles. I put new plugs in last weekend when I done the headers. Im on a buget so I will get the wires later on. Im still alittle new to the forum, can you direct me to that article you mentioned. I agree, I think its worth taking it out. Thanks Mike

The article is in the 5.0 tech forum( same as this thread) It is the fourth one from the top. In the tile it mentions throttle position sensor. Here is a link.
