Default 302 Engine heads made in MEXICO, Identification??

Hey,

I got a question for ya. I have heard about Ford 302 engine heads that were made, or at least casted in Mexico, that have more metal in them. Supposedly the castings were made with looser rough tolerences that caused more material to be in the heads.

The idea is that this gives you more material in order to machine out to do machining and blue printing. I think these were probably made in the 70's.

Now the questions. Has anyone else heard of these? What kind of casting marks exist on the heads that allow for identification? Has anyone used these and what kind of experiences have you had?

Dad is 62 and builds drag cars, normally blown with nitrous. He has me on this wild goose chase for him. SO PLEASE ifin anyone has any idea what he is talking about let me know here or at
senttoyoufree@yahoo.com.

thanks dave

No, never heard of the heads, pero, si, I've heard of Mexican blocks, which are indeed beefier.
Maybe we could grant amnesty to Mexicans if they bring these blocks (and heads if they exist) up here...

"higher nickel content" = myth

Hencho en Mexcio blocks are slightly stronger than those cast in the US or Canada because they were not lightened like the US/CAN blocks were. The main bulkheads are thicker.
