Default Ford 302 Block Identification numbers

Below is a post with questions I ask a few days ago. Thanks for those who replied. I was incorrect in stating heads, I should have said block.

Here goes again. I am trying to find out for my father, how to identify these mystery ford 302 blocks that were manufactured in Mexico. I am guessing they were made in the 70's and were supposed to have alot of additional thickness in castings and a different metal composite.

I would like to find out how I could identify these blocks from the casting marks/casting dates/ or other markers on the blocks. Can anyone tell me anything about these things or even somewhere else to look for information?
What do you know about when they were made, if there are alot of them, ect.

Thanks in advance, dp

Hey,

I got a question for ya. I have heard about Ford 302 engine heads that were made, or at least casted in Mexico, that have more metal in them. Supposedly the castings were made with looser rough tolerences that caused more material to be in the heads.

The idea is that this gives you more material in order to machine out to do machining and blue printing. I think these were probably made in the 70's.

Now the questions. Has anyone else heard of these? What kind of casting marks exist on the heads that allow for identification? Has anyone used these and what kind of experiences have you had?

Dad is 62 and builds drag cars, normally blown with nitrous. He has me on this wild goose chase for him. SO PLEASE ifin anyone has any idea what he is talking about let me know here or at
senttoyoufree@yahoo.com.

thanks dave

"Hecho en Mexico" (made in Mexico) is cast into the lifter valley and an extra, unmachined boss protrudes from the front of the driver side cylinder bank.
