Re: Electric Fan Question Fan manufacturer's I think are miss guided on the HP vs. fan capability. The reason they make this comparison is; HP means more heat.
If you are running more horsepower, chances are good that you will create more heat. So you must upgrade the cooling system to match. This usually means getting a better radiator.
In my opinion, if you have a fresh factory radiator, with the correct thermastat, you should not have any problems with this electric fan well up into the 400 hp range. It really depends on what was done to the motor to get too that HP range. Bored block, Supercharging, turbo's, etc.?? At worst you may have to upgrade the radiator if it runs to hot. In this case, no matter what fan was used, if it runs hot, it needs a better cooling system.
Electric fans are a nice little way to gain a few extra pony's under the hood. I would recommend it. Run it! When you get to the higher HP, if you have heat problems, upgrade the radiator. |
