what's all Forged in the 5.0 and non 5.0 blocks 91' yr era?
Hey guys just wanted to know what is all forged and what isn't piston, rods, crankshaft etc? for 91' era 5.0 Ho's and also non HO's? i have both 91' mustang 5.0 HO in the car and a 91' Tbird motor 5.0 sittin' in the garage not sure if its an HO or not heads intake etc gone just the shortblock any way to tell or all blocks internally the same? forged wise in 91' thanks guys for any help
Non H.O's are roller cammed (but it's real wimpy), but use the traditional 289-302 firing order. They are basically the '86 H.O. engine with the same no valve relief pistons, but they are cast instead of forged.
ALL small fords (221-351W) came with cast cranks and forged rods. H.O.'s from '86-mid '92 had forged pistons, while mid '92-'01 came with hyperuetectic slugs.

I agree with you till the Ending as I have a late production 92 with Forged Pistons. I have never seen a 92 with them in them, if they were it must have been in the very last cars going off the line.
the motor in question is from a 91 t bird but has the 13726548 firing order does that make it an HO? not the 158 one what gives,? only thing i can think of is if the bird had a motor swap somewhere along the line, a salvaged car that was wrecked before i pulled the motor. it was basically a shortblock with only the lower intake and pullies in the car seats with that intake showing the 137 etc firing order anyone know what this paper weight in my garage is and/or worth keeping, does it if not an HO have the same block strength horsepower wise or just toss it and get a $500 block from summit??
The block should be the same. I think the H.O. might've been optional in the 'Birds. Either way the camshaft is the most surefire determinant of firing order.
