Default New Exhaust on Stock 89 coupe

I just put a stock 5.0 on the road after very much body repair. The car has low miles and runs great. It has a limited slip 3:08 rear and 5spd trans and I use it as a daily driver.

I am planning on putting long tube BBK headers with X-pipe(no cats) on the coupe. Can anyone recommend a good set of mufflers that are not to loud but provide a performance increase? I'm leaning toward Flowmasters; What are the differences in their products?

Will adding this exhaust effect the driveability? What kind of performance increase can I expect? Will I have to make other changes other than the O2 sensors?

I already have the X pipe and headers. Thanks

I've got the flowmaster 40 series! I love the sound, it's not too loud but it's loud enough. If you're having decision problems, you can never go wrong with flows!

Long tubes make good power but prepare to replace your clutch cable regularly if you plan to daily drive it. You also will need to watch speed bumps. When I upgraded heads I went with short tubes to get away from burning up clutch cables. I run MAC shorties into a MAC power chamber and into MAC flowpaths. These have a good strong sound, although it may be too loud for you.

Is there a way to protect the clutch cable when using long tube headers?

Nope, just get anyone with long tubes and a stick to show you how the cable runs to within 1/2" or less of the pipes. Logistically it has to be that way. You can attempt to put some heat shielding in between but it gives up the ghost too.
