I am rebuilding my 84 HO 4V 5.0 in California using a later model roller block and was wondering if anyone has changed to a Duel Exhaust with headers and cats on this year car with any luck in California. I have all the smog legal parts on the engine so far but I really hate the stock pipe setup.

If the car is a 49 state car, I believe it's exempt from smog there. If not, you're screwed. Swapping H-pipes isn't that difficult...

When you say 49 state car do you mean first sold somewhere else other then California?

ok, you can legally upgrade it to head4rs and duals if you upgrade the rest of the smog to the year of the exhaust, so, if you have 1989 exhaust, you must have an 89 engine, 89 fuel injection and 89 smog stuff...fun?

Got to love California state law where it is ilegal to have an exhaust system with 4 cats when 3 was factory.
