how much work is there involved in putting a 351 in my 88 mustang gt? i met this guy today that said he has one sitting at his house and he said he would sell it to me for $1000. it has 40,000 miles on it and its carbuerated. and if i would buy this what all is onvolved switching it over to fuel injected other than an upper snd lower intake and fuel injectors.
DSS 331 stroker, AFR 185 heads, Performer rpm 2 intake, Accufab 75 mm race TB, 30lb injectors, 80 mm Pro-M mass air, Extreme energy cam 266.
Anderson ford power pipe the big one, Ford motor sport shorty headers, Bassani x pipe custom cat back with flows, World class T5, center force duel friction clutch.
You'll need all the sensors, MAP, speed density, O2, coolant temp sensor, knock sensor. Thankfully all of those already exist in your car. All you really need to purchase is injectors big enough to supply the 351, fuel rails, and an intake manifold for that motor for an EFI application.

so how much money do you think i am looking at? just a new set of headers? what would i have to do if i wanted to keep it carbuerated as far as the computer?
headers for 351w in a fox not cheap either ($420), u will need a fox bodied dual sump oil pan for 351w (different than 302) not cheap FRPP sells for i think ($175) with pickup screen and stuff needed.your 5.oL distributor wont work, u need a 95-96 351w TFI distributor. not sure if fuel rails will work from 5.0L. lower EFI intake is different, alot to think about. u be better off finding a 95-96 EFI truck 351w motor with all this crap on it already, u still need pan and headers to fit in fox though. also it wont fit under your hood u will need a cowl hood or scoop. would be killer when done though.
351w swap mac make the headers truck oil pan will work in the fox body ford racing sells the braket to run the a/c on the 351w the 5.0 motor mounts will fit the 351 aod t5 will bolt up it c4 and the small block cast c6 if u end up useing the c6 u have to the change the yok on the front of the drive shafe same way the tko that has the big splins. will have to have a cowl hood 351 is taller and wider then a 302.the 302HO both have the same firing order EFI mass air will work best

take a look at this page it tells you everything you need to know along with all the part numbers that you will need..... make sure that the motor is a 351w (winsor) if you get a 351c (cleveland ) some part are different and they are harder to find.......... you can tell if it is a 351c or a 351w by the valve covers a 351w has 6 bolts a 351c had 8
its not that expensive. new headers, dizzy, oil pan, and lower intake manifold. you can get all that for around 600$ brand new. if you go the used route, its even cheaper.
