its more like 98-02 camaros are real fast all stock because they have the ls1 93-97 have the lt1 which is not all that great but still relatively potent. gears and some other mods, with a good driver mod will probably take a stock lt1 out.

Yea, the LT1 only has 50 more hp in it than our beloved 5.0. Not all that great
Seriously, I remember when I was 16 (1996) and the 5.0s were everywhere and only a few LT1's runnign around. THe LT1s were untouchable by a 5.0
For you to beat him, wel hes got a better intake, better cam and more displacement, plus n20.
You are going to need something wild. Minumum is Heads/Cam/INtake plus a shot of your own and a Gear swap.
Is his a 6-speed. You have to really watch out if hes got a 4.10 in the rear.

If your compression looks good across the board I dont see any reason why your engine shouldn;t be able to take a 75 or 100hp WET shot. Just make sure you get a window switch and a fuel pressure switch for the system.

I've heard from reputable sources you shouldn't run nitrous with hyper. pistons. I don't know what would it take with fox mustangs to beat a 96 SS but I know they're running with Cobras with some mods. Granted these are more than the usual bolt ons, but you get the point. It doesn't take much to take those LS1's up in the performance department.
well back to the LT1's... i raced one of 'em at irwindale about a month ago... it was a 94 with a 6 speed. Stock exept for flowmaster and CAI... anyways he ran like a 9.328 and i ran a 9.315... and that was with my old stock 2.73's! I'm sure he prolly wasn't much of a driver though... seeing how every single other run he made was in the 10's lol.
Redhot87 hey bro when do you have another trip planned to the strip to see how she runs?! only this time it might be more tricky in the traction dept. lol to get that good bite out of the hole. If you can make it work though some nice runs could be instore. btw what have you been using for traction?
Exactly! CHEAPER is the word there. Not just less expensive..... Nitrous is kinda'
like duct tape...... It works for now.....Way to much to maintain. And you're
not gonna crack open the bottle every time some chump starts revin' at you.
With a blower the power is just there. So even if the guy has 4 turbos tucked
under the hood of his CRX, you aren't going going to get blown away by a rice
rocket. And, do you really want the one time you actually use your nitrous to
break your engine? I would be way too scared to use it. I've heard way too
many bad stories.

You can run nitros just fine with hyper pistons as long as the tune is good.

Just let me say this about the Camaro vs Fox debate. Go to your local dragstrip, if it's anything like ours, what will you see in the street bracket classes? A whole lotta Foxes cleaning up. Why? power to weight ratio for one thing, availability and affordability of go-fast parts for another.
Around here they have the Friday night street fights at the strip, where the cars have to be licensed, inspected, on DOT tires and run mufflers. These are real street cars. There are way more foxes than anything else, and the fastest cars are almost always foxes, some running in the nines (1/4 mile). Foxes rule!
