Hey guys, I'm planning on switching my GT tail lights on my 87 mustang for some LX tail lights, and I'm wondering if they are a direct bolt on or is it necessary to change the whole tail light harness???? Thanx for the help in advance.
its a direct replacement, i recommend you get new clips to hold lens in and also some new sealing caulk, automotive stores sell it for a nice tight seal and fit

I did the swap I bought the kit off 50 resto and it came with every thing I needed It is a perfect fit BUT you have to change the blinker bulbs...Yeah i found that out the hard way.....I got white blinkers.

I thought the LX lights were colored...hmmm
Are they clear lense over the turn signal?

The LX tail lights have like a smoked lense for the reverse and turn signal lights so you need a yellow bulb for the blinker, on the GT lights, everything on the lense is red except for the reverse light.

The Cheese graters are awesome. I can't decide If I like the LX lenses on a
GT or not, although they do look a little more slick. Maybe with 1 solid paint color...

maybe im just weird... i hate the lx tail lights with the clear turn signal and dont think they look slick at all id much rather have the gt taillights i was talking about i think the lx lights look like ****... id kill for some cobra or gt taillights...

They look slick as long as the ugly orange bulb isn't flashing. Like I said, I'm
a cheese grater fan. I was just trying to make all the guys who wasted their time and money switching out their wonderful cheese graters for the lowly lx lenses.
BTW, I think the cobra tail lights have the orange signal bulbs too.
You CAN"T put cheese graters on a non-GT. That's just wrong.
