Default PLEASE HELP!!!! found a chip from a stang i used to have.

back in 1998 i had a 94 gt auto.(i know,i know). any way i was goin through my dads shed this weekend and found an ADS superchip for a 94 auto. they went out of buisness. i called the current superchips and thats what they told me. this chip is for hot street. it came with a t-stat and reccomends 91 or better octane. the guys at superchips won't tell me i can use this on my 90.obviously.

does anyone know if i can get this re-flashed for a 1990 5.0 5 spd. apparently i must have sold the car and never installed this. it still looks bran new. i really want to find someone to re-flash this.
thanks alot.jay.

yea.. chips are pretty much a waste of money unless the are specifically "burned" for your specific car

ok. so educate me here guys. the last time i owned a fox was 98,when i had that 94. do u mean to tell me in that time everyone has come to find out that a chip is useless power wise. unless the engine is built with h/c/i and/or blower. right now i have stock motor with bbk shorties equals, flowmaster A/M thunder, and i'll be getting my mid pipe in a couple of weeks. with that i won't gain anything from any after market chip???

They have always been useless even back in the late 80's. It was a good run for those manufactures till someone found how to debug the code and find out all those year for year chips did nothing but bump the timing and that was it. Move your distributor to 14 degrees and run 91 octane and you have the same thing as a chip. A Chip is like any other tuning device, to be a valid tune it needs to be done on a Dyno or to be programmed for the parts that have been added to Your car and hope everything with your car is in the same shape as the car they originally used to make the chip.

Ditto on the Chip being a waste, bump the timing yourself!

ok.cool thanks alot speedytang.

i'm just going to tune her up and bump the timming for now until i do my h/c/i.
i will finnish my exhaust and put a better air intake on it. i'm not even goin to waste my money on t-body until i do the head and cam swap. i've always known that pullies are a waste on a stock motor,so i'm not doing them either. then i'll start saving for the major chit.
thanks again guys for ur help.

I would disagree on the pullies because I myself did see a increase in power on a Dyno. I just don't feel 7whp in the seat of my pants so I would not do it unless you upgrade the alternator first.
