I just did a cam swap, from a F303 to the E303. You dont have to pull the motor. Take off the front bracketry for you accessories, you will also have to pull the ac cooler thats behind the radiator as well as the radiator. I suggest you also replace the valve lifters. Some guys say you can reuse them if they look ok, cause there rollers, but they have plungers in em that once fill with oil, are nearly impossible to get all the way down. And if you dont, youll just end up with misadjusted rockers and lifter chattering. I just went through all this, and trust me, it sucks havin to tear everything back apart again just to change the lifters. Summit has a nice set from ford racing for 120 bucks. You dont need to remove the waterpump from the timing plate cover, you can just take it off as one piece. Not a bad idea to change the timing chain and gears while you in there, but if theres not any slack and it looks ok, it should be fine. |
