Default headers for gt40p heads

i have a set of gt40 p heads and am looking to put long tube headers on them. i was told that hooker super comp would work. everyone i talk to gives me a different answer. i am wondering what headers would be the easiest to install. any feedback would be a big help. thanks

I've heard that various long tubes could be adapted to work. Most commonly I hear the Mac 1 5/8 will work. The only one I know will work is a MAC shortie. I have these on my car and they were specifically built for this purpose but they are not long tubes.

FRPP or MAC P specific shorties are the only options for short tube headers.

For LT's, BBK or MAC work well with 90* boots on the plug wires and a cut down plug socket with a wrench on the end to get at 3 of the plugs.

I have BBK's and I need the cut down socket for #1,2, and 3 cylinders. The rest are easy as can be. I can pull the plugs faster than on a stock 5.0 Mustang.

did you have to dimple any of the tubes for clearance issues with the bbk LT's?

Not at all. Here's pic's of both sides... You can see whay the cut down socket is needed on the drivers side (cylinder #5,6, and 7, I accidentlt posted 1,2, and 3 above.) It's tight, but doable, and the plug boots fit with out burning.

The standard MAC shorty won't fit. MAC does make P specific versions for both Fox and SN95's.
