Default Aftermarket OEM Seat cover replacements any good?

I bought some Scat aftermarket race seats from Summit racing and they look killer in my car! Now for the bad part, I am about 6'3" and the new seats are way to tall for me to fit in the car without banging my head big time on the T-Tops. I now have a set of nice new seats I can't use and I am still tasked with the job of getting my seat problem fixed.

Seeing as I still have my old seats and the foam is still in good shape I was considering getting a set of OEM aftermarket seat upholstery to replace my old covers. Has anyone else tried these yet and are they worth the money? Most of the upholstery shops I have talked to want like $600+ to recover my old seats and the OEM covers are $400 and some change. The link below is for the product I am looking at.

LINK HERE

Any help would be great,
Robert

I can't answer your question, but I'll be keeping an eye on your thread.Upholsery is a ways down on my list, but it's on there.I'm considering the same thing for my "95 GT w/black leather

I believe most of the kits out there are using the ford tooling. So they should be exactly the same. CJ Pony parts carries them along with some others. I'm going to upgrade to the leather when I do mine, not much more. Let us know how you make out. I'd like to know how difficult a job it is to do, I'd like to do in myself

at least go vinyl.... they should fit great, i've seen pictures of guys using the kits and they look fantastic. it is a bit involved... youll need hog rings and hog ring plyers if im not mistaken. i say go for it.

make sure your seats are good before you recover them.

I recovered a pair of 98 GT Seats and it was cake, no Hog Rings or special tools as the Leather/Vinyl is attached to the foam, so you just turn them inside out and pull them over and hook the J Clips together.

The most inexpensive and up-to-date look can be found on eBay! For less than $100, you should be able to find front and rear seats with a pony or something in just about any color shipped to your door! Go take a look and make sure to view the stores also for more items!
