I was wondering.. my 85 GT Has a stock Exhaust on it.. What do I need to do that get that every famous 5.0L growl?..Do I need to do some engine work too?.. I was is a shopping mall parking lot this past summer and me and my wife heard this Fox Body GT.. and man was is sweet and low... LOL.. I looked at my wife and she asked me is that what the our mustang will sound like.. and I said.. YES It will.. and she looked at me and smiled and said.. I LIKE IT!!!..
Any advise would be great
Thanks

My peak horsepower is at around 6000 rpm.
but what I really like is the sound of a Ferrari screaming to 12,000 rpm. How can I get the stang to make power from 8000 to 10000 or more rpm?
I'm thinking Anderson ford high rev cam will do the trick? Not!
Is there a special cam that will rev that high for a mustang?

Free flowing headers short or long tube, catless h or x pipe, and flowmasters american thunder catback kit. I'm still running stock heads/intake and the car sounds sick. nice deep low rumble, then like a bat out of hell scream at wot! It make chevy guys cry the blues. CAN YOU SAY 302OOOOOOOOOOO!

I think flowmaster sounds the best. Go to a online video library and listen to some. That gave me an idea.. I liked the flowmaster the best, and as far as I knew when I was into stangs at a younger age the flows were the most popular most economical and I have them on my stang . I have 3 chamber flows, but 2 will give u more of that crackle.. Mine hum and are not as cackly.. If u get my drift..!

i put frpp shorty ceramics, pypes catted x and american thunder 2 chamber flows.
its dumped right now b/c the x pipe doesn't fit the c/b. the pipes goin to the mufflers are to long. but to me nothing sounds better than flows with a xpipe. its deep, loud and thunderous. it sounds awesome.
ur best bet is to find some sound clips and see what combo u like. try mustangexhaust.com
good luck.

A guy who works at the autozone I go to, has a '92 LX vert with an offroad and flowmasters, and it sounds mean! His car makes me wish mine was louder. Most of the complaints I read about flows stem from inside the car - i.e. the dreaded drone.

I've read all these suggested combos, but for you to get the true sound your gonna first need to convert to a true dual exhaust, if you already haven't. My suggestion is full length headers, off road H (depending on inspection standards) and 2 chamber mufflers for a really head turning sound. Brands are for you to decide, I really like my MAC system and it fit like a glove, except for the headers but any full length headers need to be coaxed in.

i agree with getting the MAC stuff.. EVERYONE has flowmasters so its nice to have a little different sound but still the same 5.0 sound..
here is a link to stuff you should look at... http://www.macperformance.com/store/...ategory_ID=365
thats the exhaust section for 5.0's
haha just today i fixed something on my car and finished right before lunch. so as i was driving my car to the parking lot (through the HUGE crowd..) with my friend in the passenger seat.. i heard people all going "that's a 5.0!!", "that car sounds awesome" haha i LOVE having an old school car, yet people still think its awesome..
the next step for sound will be a big cam.. i cant WAIT!

The mac setup sounds nice, but I still love that sound flowmaster gives you. SLP has a real nice cat-back that I would look into too. Or just put two glass packs on, it'll be loud as poop! lol (edit self)

Straight pipes (no mufflers) all the way back to the bumper is pretty mean at higher RPMs too.
