Alright I just finished installing my BBK MAF sensor, 24lbs injectors Cobra Comp. & BBK fuel reg., now the car idles fine and everything seems fine but it just seems like I've lost some HP. It just doesn't have the same pull that it did without the MAF, could I need to adjust the fuel reg. or could something else need to be adjusted. Also its a true Cobra Computer (came out of a 93) and the sensor is an aftermarket BBK could this be a problem? Also I have stock heads w/ 1.7 rockers. Any suggests are appreciated.

Not gonna be satisfied until I need wheelie bars.
Might take a little while for the 'puter to learn the operating conditions.

So you took a dog of a 1986 mustang then gave it more fuel, and that's it? Do you have a t5 transmission? what size mass air meter? why didn't you go for a c&l or a pro M mass air meter? What cold air intake are you running? Throttle body size? Just adding more fuel isn't going to make the car faster. Try bumping the timing up to 15 it may help.
I would get heads, cam and, a upper and lower intake manifold.

Helper its an 88, the 86 is gone but not forgotten, it has a T5, not sure of the size of the MAF but it was free from a friend who got a new one for his 347 and 36lb inj., and all of your other questions are in the signature. And I didn't put the MAF on to make it faster, the only reason its got the 24lb injectors is because the Cobra comp. is the only one I have, and it wouldn't have worked with the 19s, I don't think anyway.

Also I put the MAF on because I thought it helped with throttle response (and it does) and needed to be installed to really start to upgrade the motor, eventually gonna have a 331. I wasn't expecting it to be faster, just not slower. And honestly besides what seems to be a loss of power at WOT, the MAF makes the car run alot better then it did without it.

Open up the intake inlet. The E303 ford cam will make a big difference with that combo, as well as porting the upper and lower intake. A bigger CAI, and throttle body will also help. that should bump up 30 to 40 hp, and would cost you less than a new 331. If you add heads you can get pretty close to 300hp or more.

And don't forget that the '93 Cobra computer uses the same 19 lb MAF sensor calibration as a GT - the computer itself is what is programmed for the 24 lb. injectors.
Does it seem to be overly lean, or rich?

Well I figured it out, the computer just needed to learn (I guess it just takes more than 3 trips around the block) but my problem was because the Camshaft retainer busted and after 40 miles or so the timing chain gear wore enough to let the cam walk itself right out and break my new timing chain. Luckily it finally dropped the chain at idle in front of the shop doors. It wore a groove in the timing chain gear and bent 5 pushrods and has made one of my new roller rockers wobble (I guess that would be the best way to describe it) but nothing too serious, just lucky it didn't happen at speed it could have been real bad. So runs great now, except the light tapping noise from the rocker. Very happy with way it runs now with the MAF. To answer your question Mean it ran really rich to begin with, but seems to have fixed the condition. It also sounds better with the MAF, inside and out.

Thanks for the suggests Helper, but I'm happy where its at for the time being. The 331 is being custom built with lower compression (dished pistons) for a supercharger. The car is gonna stay as is for maybe 6 months then its gonna get completely gutted and restored with the new motor getting dropped in after the cancer is erraticated and the new paint and interior (damn coffee stains do not come out) are complete, spring 08' hopefully. So any upgrades I do now are with that in mind, no more engine goodies unless its for the new motor. Though guess I could do the port and polish myself, we'll see I'll let you know.

Replace that rocker asafp. You don't want it coming apart and dumping needle bearings into that nice motor.

One thing about converting to MAF there will be a drop in HP thats why they say only do it if you are putting in a better cam or rreally upgrading the motor because it only helps to adjust to changes but the drop in HP is normal even with the stock MAF vs SD
