Hey all I am thinking of getting a Kenne Bell Supercharger for my DSS 331 Stroker that should be delivered in the next few weeks. Anyone had good success intstalling one of these? I have herd good and bad about these S/C like bad support, they are not a direct bolt on and that you will have to frabicate your own parts to get it to work.
How did you build the motor? what heads are on it? what is the compression?

Hey man good to see you online. They are doing everything for me and I am getting the TrickFlow High Lift Heads and it should be around 8:1 to 9:1 compression

Because the air charge is cooled they put out more HP with less boost that a roots type blower without a intercooler.
Do a little research you should be able to find people who run both, and ask them questions as to reliability, boost to HP ratios, and ease of installment. good luck. sounds like its gonna be a mean ride when your finished.

Interesting thought on the cooling aspect. Man I have been researching for the past few months. At first I knew I wanted a DSS block, trick flow upper kit, and Turbo form Hellion and planned on going that way till I was ready to commit to the purchase. Then some told me to get a used block and get it machined. Well with the machining, Honing, Boring, 331 Stroker Kit, for a few hundred dollars more I could get a DSS Race Preped Block. Which is the way I wound up going but I was still stuck on the turbo but the kit is $5000 which takes a weekend to put in. For budget reasons I then looked at the S/C's and went back to the S/C that I originaly wanted to get when I first started this was the Kenne Bell Blowzilla/Flowzilla.
the roots type blowers / twin screw blowers provide power isntantly, and are great for big street power. the boost kicks in at a very low rpm range when compared to centrifugal type blowers such as a paxton or ati procharger. however, the nice thing about the centrifugal type charger is that even though you may have bought the kit for a certain car and motor, you can pull it off and stick it on pretty much anything you want. with the KB blowers, you are buying it to fit on top of an 87-93 mustang intake (either a stock lower intake, or cobra/gt40 lower intake is required). if its the car you want to have the power, then its fine. but if you ever want to switch to something else, with the centrifugal s/c, you just need some new plumbing, and maybe some fuel management stuff.
