Hello! I have 17x7 and they use 225 45 17... so for your 17x9 I would use 275 or 285, as you mentioned. Most guys with the 18x10 use 295, some use upto 315, but save some weight with those big tires, use smaller to push harder. DEFINATELY check with your local shop to make positive. BTW, THE RIMS ON MY STANG ARE SALE FOR THE RIGHT PRICE. TIRES ARE CRAP, BUT WOULD BE SHIPPED WITHOUT RUBBER.
235 in the front, 275 in the back (stock). otherwise you would have to strech out the wheels lips by stuffing a bat inbetween the tires and lips and roll the car back and fourth to strech them a bit.

245/45/17 on the front are a great fit, but do they fit on a 9" wide rim? If not 255/40/17 is also a good fit on the front, and I know that will fit a 9" wide rim. As for the back, a lot of guys I know run a 275/40/17 without any problem, a 285/40/17 is not really that much different so it should be fine also. I plan on running 255/40/17's all around on my car next year for my street tires on my 17x9 wheels and 275/50/15 MT ET Street Radials on the rear for the track.

a 275 45 17 is your safest bet. some people have no rubbing issues and some do. only way to know if it will fit is to try it out. you can always flip your quad shocks or roll the fender lips if you have a problem.

What about with a 1.5" front, 1" rear drop on the car, will the 275's still fit on 17's? Can i go bigger? Its a notchback and i've heard they suck with tire clearence
sorry, i posted 275/45/17 before but meant 275/40/17
275/40/17 - may or may not rub - roll inside lip or flip quads to correct rubbing
255/40/17 -will not have any rubbing issues at all on rear
- more then likely will rub at full lock on front if you have lowering springs
245/45/17 - looks too small on a 9" wide rim and lots of fenderwell space
- recommended for front (reduced risk of rubbing at full lock)
this is just from my experience, each mustang fox ive owned fitted a different tire. if you can, try to get the shop to let to test fit before purchase. if you dont let you, go somewhere else.

245/40ZR17 tires in the front (17x9 wheel, this is probably the widest wheel that will fit on my '91 LX)
so far there are no rubbing issues. I wanted to drop my car 1" but I have heard that I will have rubbing issues. Has anyone experienced any rubbing issues or should I gove it a try?
Friend of mine has a 91 LX that is dropped 1.2 or so inches in the front, and 1.5 inches or so in the back, maybe more. He runs 275/40/17's on the back and 255/40/17's on the front, and has no rubbing issues.

my car is dropped 2" in front and 1 3/4" in the rear. i am running 245's up front and 275's on the back. no problems! i would stick w/ 245's but its up to you.

i'm dropping my car then! but now the question is which lowering springs to get....? Eibach Pro Kit? I'll probably redo my whole suspension while I am at it with some Tokico struts and the whole deal....would you guys recommend anything?
