how much radiator fluid does a 5.0 take?

as the title says, whats the total capacity of a 5.0 radiator, from say, a 1988 mustang 5.0?

Not sure, but with a empty cooling system I've always used 1 gallon of coolant and topped it off with water. I did this when the car was in Michigan and now in Florida with no overheating and freezing problems.

Off the top of my head I think it's about 15.4 quarts. As was mentioned.. gallon of anti-freeze, fill with water. That mix should give you a 25/75 Glycol/Water mix. Not sure what that freeze point is off the top of my head, and never checked it with my Refractometer... but it should be around 0-10 F or less.

For best results use demineralized water and Wetter Water or equivalent. Demineralized water has less of a chance to cause corrosion within the block.
