Well, being that the Cobras of the SN95's had a DOHC 4.6L in them and they are built on the same Chassis, I would say yes.. it will fit. Though the drivetrain on that cars (as far as I know) has a computer controlled transmission, which could cause some computer issues, maybe not. Really need to research that one.

Though, you probably will have to swap the complete harnesses and sutom wire a lot. At any rate, the gains in power you will see would be much easier to achieve with the 5.0 being rebuilt with a few choice non-stock parts.

Yes you can do it. Its been done hundreds of times. You will need either an aftermarket tubular K member or get a K member from a a newer stang so the engine will bolt in properly. You will also need the entire harness and computer. To keep your 5 speed you will need the bellhousing from like a 1996-1998 stang. But since the computer is for an automatic car, Im not sure if you will be able to still use that one or get one for a manual car.

Cool

Since it came from a 96 lincoln... I think it has 280 horses and 285 lbs of torque. With that many miles, I say take about 5%. Would you want to go through all that trouble doing a complete conversion. $500 plus all the other crap you have to buy, modify and try to figure out. It probably be cheaper or maybe the same to buy racing heads and slap em in. Just my 2c

Also I don't know the smog laws in your state. But in some states, putting in a later year engine. You will be bound to pass that years spec. In your case 1996.

so bassicaly you guys are of just staying with rebuilding my 5.0 and hook that one up with the housands of performance parts for it! yeah if it was a big deal like that then my answer would be no just rebuild it and put the gt40 heads i got from the 96 explorer. yup my hopes are down again but the way i see it i could'uf run into problems with the exhaust set up i already have. thanks for helping me make my mind up.
