i have a 89 mustang gt and my oil, temp, gas, and battery gauges dont work i checked the fuses and they appear to be good...i used a tester....my battery gauge will go up little by little as i drive.....can anybody please help i have tried to fix this but ran out of things it could be
Sounds like a bad ground. It could bea nywhere in the wiring that leads to the gauges. First I would take it out and visually inspect as many wires as you can get to. Then if the problem is not found, get a replacement set of gauges from the salvage yard, and try it. If those 2 things don't work, then your looking at a very time consuming job of tracing all the wires down. That's really about all you can do. I suppose it could be the pcm, but I seriously doubt that. Good Luck.
Might be an open Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator. If you remove the cluster, the IPVR should be right behind the fuel gauge (it was on my '82 GT). It's a metal rectangular thing a little over an inch long. The Printed Circuit Board uses snap connectors to connect to it. Be careful to not tear the PCB when disconnecting it. Check it for continuity.
I think the parts stores carry them.
Usually, you'll notice the Fuel, Oil, and Temp gauges pegging out, when it starts to fail.

thanx guys for your help is this very exspensive to fix or not cause i'm not very good mechanically i screw around with things but this sounds like something i would rather have a mechanic look at....any idea how much this would cost

No, but I'd find someone who specializes in Mustangs. The IPVR shouldn't be more than $20, and I can't imagine the labor being too bad.
Did the gauges just stop working on you? Or did they never work?
