Default 1993 mustang egr block off plate question

I have seen a few folks in there signatures with an egr block off plate, I am assumeing that this fits in the egr spacer. My question is can I just loose the EGR spacer all in one or do I need a block off plate. I guess my main question is whats the scoop on the spacer do I need or not and if I delete it will it cause codes or effect performance. If it matters I have an exploder upper and lower w/ gt 40 iron heads, and my intake is the EGR type.

You can do either one. Take off the valve and replace it with the plate, or take the egr spacer completely off and use the eliminator plate. If you go with the eliminator, know you'll have to do something about the air intake tube connecting to the TB, it'll leave about an inch space. I got some silicone hose and extended it off the TB and you can even get it in color, if that's your thing.
