Question Electrical

I have a 95' GT convertible. I don't have a hood light, a trunk light, vanity lights nor a map light(dome light on the rear view mirror). I have checked nearly every thing, but still can't get them to work. Is there any one else having the same problem and what did you do to fix them. I need your help. Thanks

Like Twister mentioned, first check your fuses. Remember that the hood and trunk switch are activated by a mercury switch. Using a volt meter or a test light, check to see if you are at least getting voltage to your lights. If not then it's either a blown fuse or a broken wire or a bad ground circuit.

I have already checked the fuses. I ran a wire directly to each light and can get each light to burn. I have checked the remote box in the trunk and checked the fuse box as well as the light switch on the dash. Is there a common place were this problem has been before that you have had to repair. Thanks

they all run off of fuse #8 in the instrument fuse panel 10amp.

edit: if that fuse is good then check the main light switch, and the left and right courtesy lamp switches, and the illumiated entry module(optional) they are on the same fuse also as well as fuse #1.

sounds like the Multi Function Switch in the steering column is bad.

Sounds to me like the wire going to the Courtesy lights isn't connected at the back of the fuse panel.

Do the radio and/or power mirrors work? If they do and I'm assuming they do based on your original post then I'd try to find a wiring diagram to see where the courtesy light wire feed breaks off from the back of fuse #8. Without the wiring diagram, I would start at the back of the fuse panel. Look at the wire(s) going into fuse #8 maybe one of them has fallen out or has been cut.

You have good ground otherwise the lights wouldn't work when you tried the jumper wire to each light.

You said the fuse is good and if the radio and/or mirrors work that will verify the fuse is good.

Let us know.

What switch are you referring to?The one with the wipers etc.? THe head lights are the ones that do not work the brights and turn signals work but the low beams do not and i tried to change the headlight switch but it did nothing.

Is there a headlight relay or something.I went to the connector that joins the headlight harness to the one coming from the switch i think, and in the connector i had only one hot wire should there be more than one?im just trying to see where the problem lies. Thanks for all your help.
