Default 1991 Mustang 5.0 How Are New Pistons Rings Installed ?

I have a 91 5.0 ho i was just wondering how new pistons rings are installed they have to be in a certain place am i right.And if someone can help me with main cap and connecting rod torque in ft lbs. thanks

Here are the torque specs http://www.allfordmustangs.com/Detailed/649.shtml

You really need a ring expander to do the rings correctly plus they may need to be filed to get the correct ring gap If you have never attempted this I would take the shortblock to a good engine shop and let them set up the shortblock .

You need to make sure you have the correct ring end gap which is different for different piston materials.I would suggest having a competant helper who has done this before help you.You dont want to mess it up.

the guys are right let a shop do this it's different for every thing. ring gap will change with blower,nos,forge piston,stock piston,turbo,etc.
