Default Anyone here convert auto to 5 Speed manual?

My brother is thinking of selling his 95 GT to me but its a AUTO...
Other then your basic stuff that needs to be changed (master cylinder, slave, ect) when doing a AUTO to MANUAL, would there be a need to change the trans axel or anything relating to the Axel?

How much do you guys think a swap like this can cost and do you think it would be worth buying a 5speed Mustang instead?

Would a tranny from the older Mustangs work with a 95GT? V6 5speed transmissions?

My brother's 95 GT has only about 75k miles and he'd sell it to me for cheap. Already has some mods (CAI, U/D Pulleys, Elderblock IM).
He would also give me his Offroad H Pipe and headers

I am thinking he might sell it for 4-5k. Body/Engine is in excellent shape.

Thumbs up did it...

i put a manual in my lincoln. went pretty easy just go to the junkyard get a manual brake and clutch assy. and swap them out pull the grommet out of the firewall and bolt the clutch cable down. discard youre transmission lines and wrap up the auto wires keep the speed sensor and rewire youre rev. light switch. call your junkyard and ask if the auto is any shorter or longer than the manual. you may have to cut the driveshaft down but its not that hard...go for it u can make it happen if u want it bad enough - dustin

Done 4 of these conversions and the hard part is replacing the pedal assy. Don't laugh reading that either till you try and get the assy out and install the clutch unit. lol

I've found a beautiful 1966 Mustang for under $7000. Unfortunately, it's auto and that's just a cryin shame. What would be an approximate cost of converting it to a manual? I know there are plenty of things it depends on, but just a basic range of $1000 or so. I'm hoping it would only be about $2500. I unfortunately don't have the equipment or experience or I'd love to do it myself.

I have a complete kit to convert your auto to a 5 speed. We use the TKO 5 speed so the price is not in the $2500 range. More like 4K range. The kit does include, bell housing, flywheel, clutch, hydraulic clutch actuator, TKO 5 speed, driveshaft and everything else you need except the pedals. If you wanted to stick with a mechanical linkage setup, you could save some $$$.

I'm sure you could do the swap for the price range you are looking for using a T5 transmission instead of a TKO but then a T5 is not a TKO.
I would suggest you call National Parts Depot as they should have most everything you need as far as pedals and linkage.

If you're interested in our kit, PM me.

Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.

I just completed a 1992 mustang from auto to manual you will need a lot of parts, first get your parts togather and head for ebay.you can find a lot of good parts there, as mention above the hardest part of the conversion is the pedal assembly, just take it slow a easy.the rest is easy, I have about 1700.00 in parts.
