Default Rivet Question for 90 Front Bumper

I bought the rivet kit from 50resto for the front bumper cover a while ago. Now, the rivets for some reason are a little too small when i put them thru the cover. I need slighter larger size. 50resto's size ones are 1/4" Rivets i believe they are. I need to buy bigger ones?

Please help

Thanks in advance

-Nick

Need a link to where to buy the bigger ones direct from a site.

I'm thinking 5/16" or 3/8" Rivets?

What does everyone else think?

How about a 1/4" flat washer on the underside of the rivet? Press rivet through bumper cover and header paner, washer on under side and go to town?

A picture of what you are Riveting would be extemely helpful and the washer on the end of the Rivet is a fantastic idea.

I was thinking about this situation again and the holes might be slightly larger to allow you to position the nose exactly where you want it, once you pull the Rivets it is not going to move and you can always put a washer on the end before you pull them as suggested above.

Try to use some Cleko Pins to hold things in place and then you can free up your hands a little. If you can get to the backside you can use dental wax to hold the washers in place for you too.

You can only get to like 2 or 3 of them with the washers your talking about. On those 3 i did use washers and it worked.

Well, if you can glue or stick some in place with wax you will be set!

OK thanks for the advice..

Question I was looking on 50resto.com at the rivets, they sell 21 of them for 18.95 plus shipping.

I only need like 5 or so.

Could i go to any hardware store and all I need is 1/4" (Diameter???) Rivets or what?

Also for the washers, when im at the hardware store do i take the rivet and put the rivet thru the washer and see which one it goes tight/snug in?

Like for instance in this picture http://i24.ebayimg.com/03/i/06/83/ce/f9_1_b.JPG , I would take the black ended part and put that part in the washer, and just find a washer that the black ended part fits snug/tight in, correct?

Yes, a Hardware Store is fine, you need 1/4" Diameter Rivets, they come in various lengths too, so you need to make sure you dont get ones that are too short. On your Back Up Washers you want the Rivet "Black End" to fit snug inside the washer.
