 1985 Mustang door strip with alternative replacement part
Anyone remove that metal strip on the top of your door so you can do a good paint job? I mean the strip with those nylon posts which go into the top of the door where there are these nylon inserts? Well , those nylon inserts crack and die leaving you with a gaping hole the strip won't attach to. And you can't buy these parts anymore and if so probably not cheap!
I found a solution. Go to radio shack and buy a package of those assorted rubber grommets for $2. The second size up 5/16 will fit in the hole and the nylon posts will work holding the metal strip in.
This may only apply to early 80's to mid 80's roughly, I know it works on a foxbody 85. |
