Not so fast.

What year is the transmission, or more specifically which gear (7 tooth or 8 tooth) is on the output shaft?

What size is the rear tires?

Size of the wheel doesn't matter, as tires with different overall heights can be put on the same wheel. What size is the tire?

Speedometer Drive Gear x Rear Gear x Tire RPM / 1000 = Speedometer Driven Gear

A '93 T5 has an 8T drive gear.

8 x 3.73 x ??? / 1000 = ??

speedo-gear-3-73s-speedometer_recalibration_gears_175.jpg
Product Details
Once you change the gears in your differential, you need a new speedometer gear to recalibrate your speedometer. They're inexpensive, and only take a few minutes to change.

These Recalibration Gears fit 1979-1998 Mustangs.

Instructions: Note transmission type, model and resulting drive gear. Cross reference with your rear-end gear ratio to find the correct "recalibration" gear for your application.

8 x 3.73 x 775 / 1000 = 23.16

A 23T driven gear isn't a Ford gear, so don't expect it to last forever. The pitch of the teeth is wrong and they're thin anyway. It may not even last 1000 miles.

your best bet is to get the red 21 tooth driven gear, and the yellow 7 tooth drive gear. the drive gear goes inside the extension housing, if you dont think you can do it, pick up a haynes manual and read that before you attempt it. its easy, and that will calibrate your speedo as close as youre goin to get with stock size tires.
