Default AC Cobra with 5.0 Engine cut off Problems, Please help

Hi,

I am new to the forums here. I have a AC Cobra replica FFR with the 5.0 liter engine in it. The other day I was driving it home after I bought it and it died in the middle of the road while sitting at a stop light. It wouldn't start. The starter would turn over but the engine would never start. I cannot figure out what is the problem. So I finally got it to start, drove it home and it died again when I was idling in the driveway as I pulled up. It runs great, but some times it dies and wont start unless I wait 5 minutes. Is it flooding? Anyone have these Problems with there 5.0 engines? If you have an Idea anything will help. Thanks

Here is a pic for your enjoyment

Dontcha just hate those mysterious problems? lol It could be a multitude of things.
Have you checked fuses and electrical connections to make sure you have a good contact and no high resistances? It could be that there's a loose fuse, maybe a relay fuse. When the car won't start, do your power windows work or are they buggered out too?
Can you hear the fuel pump when you power everything up? Check for any overheating, or the obvious fluid levels?

There are so many possiblities, I've seen a similar problem on a few cars now, and one truned out to be a loose fuse (that was my own car), one turned out to have some corroded wires sending mixed up signals to the ECM, and another one wasn't electrical, and I didn't get to hear the diagnosis cause buddy sold the car instead of trying to fix it

Are you running a carb? Or fuel injection?
Either way, the best thing to do when it does this, is to see if it's getting spark. If it's injected, I'd suspect the TFI module on the distributor.
Try wiggling the ignition key when it's running, to make sure that it's not the ignition switch.

silly me-but a jeep I used to have did that-it was trash in the fuel system clogging the filter.after it died and sat a while the blockage in the filter would settle off the screen and let the fuel flow again...for a while

how do you like the FFR roadster?

I have had a few similar problems:

I did have the car cutting out because of a clogged fuel filter (on a stang in fact). Junk was in the tank.

I had a girlfriends car die at weird times, turned out to be a faulty fuel pump (it was a chevy though)

I have also had the dying because of a poor ground

Could be anything ignition; coil, distributer, etc.

I just hate these kinds of problems!
