Default IS a 7.5" Rear End OK for a V6-V8 FOx body conversion?

so guys last night i committed to the biggest project, car wise, i have ever done in my life. as my sig states, i drive a V6 mustang, but thats about to change. ive decided to change things up a good bit, first off all i wanted to go old school, ive decided on a 302 based, 331 stroker. i am going carbeurated with the motor and have already purchased the intake, a victor jr. w/ NOS holes drilled and a NOS plate. now the tranny, which i actually bought first, is a C4 w/ 3500 stall with a B&M shifter, and im going to possibly throw a shift kit in it.

i would like to go with twisted wedge heads, and matching pistons, but what about cam, i plan on going with a mild shot, maybe a 75-100 shot, since i plan on building the motor to be pretty stout on its own. i dont want a rough idle, but i need the cam to be enough to give me some good power.

now to questions....

my friend that is helping me build the beast has said... i can use the 7.5 rear end thats in the car for now... he has a posi unit.... and axles (31 spline) he can GIVE me and has said for my set up (all street, no strip) i should be safe with the rear end in my car....

ill have updates with pics as soon as we begin work......

thanks for any input and advice.

That rear end will be fine for as long as you want to use it. Just don't launch extremely hard, especially if you are getting a good hook. For one you will twist the car since it only has one drive wheel, and second you are likely to break the axle on the right side. It will be fine for street or whatever just as long as you don't launch it. When you start on your rear end, you want to get either coil overs or adjustable lower control arms so you can adjust your rear height. Get the coil overs and you will always be happy though.

hehe thanks, hes actually got the posi unit that can go into the 7.5 or a T-loc, but he says that since im not building a strip car i should be able to do fine on the street, i never plan on going to the strip or putting slicks on the car so i THINK i should be fine hehe.
