Default 1982 Mustang TRX Suspension Tires

I'm trying to size tires/wheels to closely match the original TRX factory components. The orginal tires were Michelin 190HR395. I've converted my Mustang to 15 inch wheels. Can someone tell me what is the closest tire size using today's tire standards? I was thinking P20560R15.

Thanks.

Love those '82 GTs. I had one many years ago. Best looking Fox body ever IMO.
190/65/390. It's 190 mm wide. The distance between the wheel and the tread is 65% of the width. The rim is 390 mm.
So, we take 190, and multiply it by .65, and get 123.5 mm, from the rim to the tread. Now we multiply 123.5 by 2, since there are two spans of side wall to account for, when measuring the height of the tire. The out come is 247 mm. Now we add the diameter of the rim to the two spans of sidewall. 390 + 247 = 637 mm (or 24.843 inches) from the ground to the top of the tire. Multiply milimeters by .039, to get inches.
205/60/15. 205 multiplied by .60 equals 123. Multiply that by 2, and you get 246.
Now we convert the 15 inch rim to metric, and get 381 mm. So we add 381 to 246, and get 627 mm (or 24.453 in) of height.
So the TRX tire is 10 mm taller. You might be able to get closer.

Don't know where the factor of .039 came from to convert millimeters to inches but 1" = 25.4 mm. I always use that factor to convert one to the other.

Thanks for the help. The original stock tire calculated od was 24.8 inches.

The 195mm wheel is about 15.6 inches diamter. I want to stick to 15 inch because that's the largest diameter for the particular style I like.

P205-60 24.7 inch
P195-60 24.2 inch
P195-65 25.0 inch
P205-65 25.5 inch

I'll try the P205-60s. The lower profile should help cornering. The rear fender wells shure could accomodate more rubber, but the the fronts might rub when the wheels are turned.

I could have gotten closer with 16 inch wheels:

P205-55 24.9 inch
P195-60 25.2 inch
