Default Will a 1998 3.8 transmission fit a 1993 5.0?

I have a 5 Speed Manual transmission left over from a previous project out of a 98 Mustang with a V6 (T5?). Only 58K mi... Will this be direct bolt on to my 93 GT? If not why not? Should I try and trade it off for something useful? Or keep it around for a spare? Is there anything I can do to make it work? How much torque are they rated for?

If it is a T5 it should work I just know the T45 for sure will not from that year so make sure it is not the t45. It is better to just buy a world class T-5 or better; the stock T5 was not adequate for the 5.0 with only 225hp to tell u the truth u are luck to get 75k out of one from just moderate daily street driving.

1) No its not the same and will not just bolt in

2) Yes it can work, you just need a fox body input shaft (the SN95's v6 and GT had longer input shafts to move the shifter back, because the car is longer and slightly different proportions)

3) If you look in the tech articles I believe it is rated for 310 lb-ft. Its a nice t5, but may have lower gear ratios than a standard GT tranny.

No v6 ever came with a t45

How rough a job is it to change the imput shaft?

Do you have to change the bellhousing too?

Input shaft is pretty easy if the tranny is out, and yes you would have to change the bellhousing

it will bolt right in, however the shifter will sit further back if you dont change the outputshaft and bell.
