Question Help? 95 GT Charging Problem

I"m new to the site but have viewed it often.
I have a 95 Mustang GT 5.0, no major mods just flowmasters and a BBK C.A system. The car is not charging after the first five minutes. The battery and alt have both been checked, tested good, all engine and dash fuses are fine. The voltage is about 12.5 on the battery then rises to around 14.6 when running, which is expected.

Here is where the problem lies, after about five minutes the voltage drops to around 12 and then continues to go down. I found a very bad short with the fan wiring rubbing on the alt pully, the wires have been cut and replaced, voltage still drops. I am going to replace the volt reg today but saving that what should I do?
Any ideas would be great.

Great site guys,
Richard Johnson

could it be an exposed wire that expands when it heats up and looses ground or power?

Check the grounds that go into the block, also the starter wires, those can short due to the exhaust heat.

Thanks for the advice guys, it seems like it was the voltage regulator. It was very easy to replace, inexpensive and I would suggest giving it a try to anyone before buying a whole new alternator.
