i think the same, and i dont think that there is a lot of diferences between the 3.55 and 3.73 in gas mileage

i drive 25miles to school and i never use 5th. i always wind out first gear and shift to 3rd. the 5.0HO has well over 262K miles on it and is downgraded to a 2bbl. now the kicker. even driving hard like i do, the gas gauge moves from the bottom of one line, to the top of the next.it's only a 2bbl cause i used what i had to get it running. i'm installing injection at the moment so we'll see what changes then.
I have an 04 Mach and it has the 3.55s and in 5th gear at 70mph is only at 2 grand. But i think the 5th gear in my tranny is lower than a t-5 (should be what you have). I am planning on putting in 3.55 on my 79 with an auto (never have gotten around to it). But I was driving the mach in 4th gear to see what the rmp was and it was right around the 3k mark going 65 mph. Which isnt to bad highway and its great in town, I have never been in a car with 3.73s that I know of, but I am going with the 3.55 if its your daily driver. Hey with gas at 3 bucks a gallon, economy is must if you want to drive your pony. Oh, one more thing, with the gears and tranny in the mach (probably is the computer too), I get 26mpg on trips on the freeway. Hope this helps, talk to you later.

95 gt 5-speed, i want to do a gear upgrade, probably 3.55s, it will be my daily driver. i saw in other posts that they would be like $300. Correct? How much would an install be? or could you do it yourself? Thanks.

Count on about 250-300 to get them installed plus cost of gears. Thats what it cost me. You may as well get new bearings pressed in too.

I'm not sure if my speedo is off or what gears the car has in it. I have a 93 lx 5.0 with very hard hitting cam, cobra intake, 70mm throttle body, and a cold air intake. Also long tube headers and exhaust. I bought the car from an auction so I have no Idea whats all in it but. I have had the car to 110mph in 3rd gear taching around 5,600 rpm's. That was with the car blowing oil and not running quite right. It has a 140mph speedo in it. Do you think it has stock gears? But in overdrive I have to be going around 60mph for the car to run right. I guess for the rpm's to be high enough for the cam.
The car does not have a rev limiter in it so I have my tach light setup to shine at 5,600 so I know to shift.
The car is in the shop now with the motor being completely rebuilt and new heads. My cus builds hot rods so hes doing it for cheap for me. My cus told me the car had some high priced parts in the top end of it.
What size gears would you recommend for a built motor? The car is 5spd with a short throw shifter.
i'm getting ready to get the rear end built on my car. I'm going with 31 spline axels, c-clip eliminators, dont know what traction lock and gears to go with my set up. I have a 306 with t-5 tranny? any suggestions?????
A ? If Any One Can Help. What Is The Number Of Splines On The Axles Of A 93 Lx 5.0. Im Not Sure What Gear To Go With. I Destroy The Tires With The 3.08. I Drive About 9 Miles One Way To Work And It Is All Interstate. It Is Time To Feel Waht This Car Really Has. Any Input What Be Great.,
Wow, It just took me about 2 hours to read through the 21 pages of this and I'm still up in the air about it. I have a 94 GT Vert 5 spd and I thought I wanted 3.73 but now I'm thinking 3.55.... I want to be quick off the line but I don't want soo much power that I can't control it. I'm not planning to do any major mods, i've got a CAI coming and flowmasters with no cats. I don't want to have to upgrade it later, so I was thinking 3.73, but if it's gonna pull too much and slow me down with the quick 1st to 2nd shift, it's not gonna make me happy.
This is definitely not my daily driver and I don't need to do 130+ in it, but I want a little extra bang off the line. I'd like to take it to the tracks once in a while for fun and occasionally show some ricer whats up. Any advice?
i'd say no higher than 3.73, if it's a weekend driver, i'd definately go lower like a 4.10, but if it's your dd definately go 3.73's you'll be alot happier and get better acceleration over the 3.55's without having to dred getting on the highway!
3:73's with my auto was quick but i did a 5spd swap and the 3:73 are insane. If i dump the clutch from a dead stop first gear is pretty much point less. Highway driving isn't really effected all that much either.
