I have had 3 different gearsets (4 if you include 2.73s) in my car, a '94 GT. My first swap was to 4.10s. At this time the car had an AODE, and I REALLY liked them, save for expressway RPMs. They weren't crazy, but it was high, ~2700 at ~75mph. When I converted to a T5, the 4.10s were great at the track, but next to miserable (IMHO) on the street. Next came 3.55s. If someone has a bolt-on-only motor and primarily does street driving, these are just about prfect. As time went on, I drove the car less and built a HCI (heads cam intake) motor which currently makes 274rwhp. At this point, I went up to 3.73s. There really isn't a huge difference between these and 3.55s. Numeracially, 3.73s are really only about 5% steeper. So for T5 cars that are regularly street driven, I would stick with 3.73s or 3.55s, 3.73s maybe 4.10s for autos. |
