I'm sure this has been asked before, but I haven't really noticed it. I have a 90GT with the listed mods. Next mod I want to do is definetly gears. I kinda want the 3.73s but some of my friends have said maybe 3.55s. Just curious what the best way to go would be. I do plan to get my car up to about 320 rwhp so whatever the best decision would be.. Info is greatly appreciated.

most people on here will tell ya 3.73 . is it stick or auto? auto prob 4.10 stick 3.73 of course it depends on how far you drive it an how often but there isnt much of a milage decrease between 350 and 373. well there is my 2 cents. good luck.

Yeah being as it is my "daily driver" i still would like to get the best gas mileage possible. so i guess what im looking for is the BEST overall value, the best gears without losing too much gas mileage. thats where i come up with 3.73s

Do you mostly drive on the highway or in city traffic? Around town, your gas mileage won't change much with 4.10s. You just use 5th gear more often with 4.10s so it can actually improve.
On the highway it will obviously use a little more gas as you'll turn a few hundred higher rpm for a given speed.
I would go with 3.55's. 3.73's are a big jump from stock. Gas mileage would be horrible. Do you drive on the interstate? If not, go with the 3.73's. The problem with car I have driven with 3.73's is that they don't have enough power to keep pushing when above 4,000rpms. 320hp. is not that much if you have 3.73 gears. 3.55's will be perfect for that horsepower. Any questions, just ask.

I just installed 3.73 and a spool into my 90lx, if I had to go make the chioce again I would go 3.55's. I just finished the install earlier today and sure as **** if I didn't see a brand new 2003 gt that wanted a piece of my 5.0. We rolled out from about 45mph, I was on it hard and pulled him by about 3 car links but I ran out of tach in fifth at about 115mph or maybe even 110mph. So if you like that top speed or drive on the highway much I would stick with the 3.55's,

Just put 3.73's in yesterday. I think if your going to be basically stock with no added power in the 3500-5000 range I would stick with the 3.55's. My car is basically stock right now and it has a hard time it seems pulling hard at these rpm's. It wants to pull really hard between 2500-3500. But I plan on alot more upgrades (heads, cam, intake injectors) and I think it will be perfect then. I also had a friend weld the axle tubes more solid while I had the pig out. I have seen these break and spin on other cars.
well like i said my car is my daily driver for most of the year. i drive a lot around the 45-55mph range but i am a fan of freeway fun.. as for now im a big fan of a 55mph punch in 2nd and a 75-80 punch down to third. i talked to an older guy that lives my town today. he brought his car into my work. 89 lx 5.0 of course i asked if he had anything done and what. he said for the way it looks like ill be driving. 3.55s would most likely be best. he was kinda inbetween, liking both options but he himself had 3.55s and loved them. i think he may be right, so i think itll be 3.55s for me. atleast for the time being, not like its permanent. Thx everybody

well 86 cobra, I have 245zr17's and I can only go about 120 at red line in 5th with the new 3.73's my car pulls very hard up to that, but it won't go any faster. My speedo could be off though?
