Looking for a good set of heads, I have no idea where to start and what to look for. Im looking to spend roughly $700.00 at most for the complete setup. I know a tad about heads and know I do not want to go over 64cc. The car has supercharger(1-2years) in its future and I want to make sure everything is ok for that in the way of flow. Im trying to create a mid 12 / weekend warrior for fun and I want to beat the corvettes and smash the camaro's. Any info, links you could post to help me on my quest would be greatly appreciated!!

If for some reason your budget increases a couple hundred bucks, I would be very careful what kind of heads you get. I've heard about guys buying Twisted Wedge heads and having the guides wear out on their street run vehicles in like 4-7k miles. AFR's have problems with the threads for the header exhaust bolts. Check around and see who is running what and what kind of problems they are experiencing. Edelbrocks with the helicoiled threads might be something to consider for a street vehicle.

I think your better off saving alittle extra money and getting a better set of heads, not really sure what you could get that flows really good for $700, i have AFR's myself, didnt have any problems.
Everyone says AFR's are awesome, but those guys that R&R them frequently complain that the exhaust manifold threads eventually give out and then they have to get them helicoiled.

I believe the combination is most important. From what I've read, the GT-40P heads can make decent power. Go ask this question on the Corral and look at the power/times of those with the P heads, you might be impressed. Obviously there are better heads but if you're on a tight budget, go with a proven combo that works. Good luck.

Definitely look into Thumper's ported E7's...they look like great heads for that budget!! Look him up on StangNet...I'd do a search for "Thumper's heads" or just PM him and ask for more info.
I'm thinking about getting a set myself, sometime in the future. I'd love AFR 165's but my engine is over 100k and they cost over twice what the Thumper heads do.

His screen name is Thumper460 if you want to look in the members guide. You'll find good comments on those who have bought his heads.
Great bang for the buck at $595 + a $50 refundable core charge = $645 total.

$645 Is a good price... ...I just got done reading an issue of 5.0 Mustangs and fast Fords and read a article on the Roush Cast Irons. .202 and .160 and 64cc something like that. Does any one have any experince with these heads? Im going to check on the Corral for this guys name and ask him about what he thinks of the Thumpers...But anyways keep the information coming!!

Just changing to 64cc heads alone are not going to give you 12s with your set up so I assume you mean with blower to. You don't want to run a 200cc head W/64cc chambers on a stock mustang. If you can find GT40heads i would use these as they are 64cc already. GT40P heads are 58-60cc but can easily be larger opening up chamber. The P heads flow 195 intake CFM stock and are a much better head than most ported E7s. Ported GT40 heads will out flow ported E7s. If you buy long tube headers the P head plug angle is not a problem. I don't know where people are getting their info that AFR header bolt bosses back out and strip. I have run my 185 heads since 2000 with no problems even after many tear downs. Many other aluminum heads don't use heli coils either but coils can be installed if your worried. You can run 12s with stock heads using a blower if thats your thing. The money your going to spend on a blower could also go toward a well built 302 running 12s easy. I would first start with a 93 earlier computer before any else is done to pick up performance and ease future problems with mods.

TWs haven't had valve guide issues for years. The original pedestal mount TWs had serious valve guide problems so TFS stopped making them 4 or 5 years ago. The stud mount TWs have no valve guide issues as long as you use the correct length pushrod, usually 6.7 or 6.75".
I also really doubt that AFRs have a problem with the header bolt holes stripping out. Many aftermarket aluminum heads don't have helicoiled bolt holes. My TWs don't and I've had various headers on and off these heads probably 10-15 times in the 6 years I've had them. No problems at all.
