Default overhaul advise!!

ok everyone i've just been informed i've been looking at the wrong cam for what i'm looking for so here i am asking for more help.I have a totally stock 94 cobra that is lacking lots of power,it has 111,000 miles on it. I just got it and am getting ready to rip out the motor for complete overhaul. I'm looking for some serious street racing low end torque but wont lose it all at the top end as well. I'm going to fully port and polish the gt-40 heads and cobra intake and am still considering stroking it( i have to worry about smogging it in cali so i dont know if stroking it will ruin that, so any help there would help) But all in all i need your help people. Cam? 347stoker? even what rockers people have used. Anything would be great. thanks!

like mack said, 331's are reliable. 347's can be reliable if they have a different pin location but do put more stress on the block. a 331 with your heads intake, 65mm throttle body, and order a custom cam or ask around to see what cam works the 'best' in that motor. that would be good streetable power. or if it was me in your position, i would rebuild the bottom end with either 8:5:1: or 9:0:1: compression forged pistons, and supercharge it. i'd go roots type blow like BBK or kenne bell myself. if not that i'd go ATI prochargerr because they're intercooled. depends on how much you got to spend!

Just from what I read if your going to be using nitrous I would go with the 331 and not the 347, otherwise the 347 will be a an excellent block... I should have explained why I choose that block over the 347 before...Wasnt thinking, sorry.

Go 331 stroker with forged pistons in case you wanna juice it or really boost it. Also make sure that you have valve reliefs on the pistons so you have more flexibility on cam lift variations and head combinations. I'd go 9.0 or 9.5 to one compression, so if you stay N/A it isn't to doggie. Use ARP bolts and a main cap brace and you should be in good shape with a mild/strong street machine.

Crowers 15511 will pass emissions even with a 347. If using your 1.7 Cobra rockers lift is 496/515. This cam has 218/224 duration on a 114 LSA. Perfect for GT40 heads and Cobra intake with great torque down low withl 6000 rpm power. Much better than E Cam. I would also convert to a 89-93 5-speed computer for much improved performance although not needed. GT40 heads have 65cc chambers not good for building compression on a 302 using flat top pistons. Have heads milled to 58/60cc and use shims under the rockers for correct pushrod height. A DSS flat top piston would be perfect for this making close to 10:1 CR.
