i just put in a new manifold and i took off the distributor but i forgot to mark it so now my car wont start and i have no idea how to set the timing for it.

You pull the #1 plug out and stick your finger in the hole. Rotate the engine by hand until you feel air blowing out of the hole, it should be coming up to the timing marks on the balancer, set it to 0 degrees. Put the plug back in. Then put the distributor in with the rotor button pointing at the #1 plug wire, making sure you have the distibutor oriented so that you have room to rotate it in order to time it once it starts. That should be all you need to do.

which way do i turn it clockwise or counter? and whats the rotor button?

clockwise and the rotor button is the end of the rotor(the endmost tip) or just turn the motor untill the balancer reads 0 degrees then out he distributer in untill it points to #1 you have to turn it to the left some because the rotor will slide( you have to over compensate the rotor position) once u get it running set the timming to 11-12 degrees advanced with the spout connector unpluged

well take it to tdc again and then move it 360 degrees you distributor should be at 5 oclock just move it to 1 again... You have it set on exhaust lol
