Default 2003 Ford Mustang MACH 1 32v Engine into a 90 GT - Ideas?

Any idea what would be involved? The 90 already has almost 200k miles and instead of rebuilding, i thought this may be fun to do... MM&FF fad an article about someone that put a 2003 cobra engine into a fox, so it should be possible to do this... will probably need a new hood for the ram scoop....new k-member, some harnesses, what else?

Nice project full of "challenges", mostly electrical/electronic.

You will need the engine, tranny, and ALL the ignition and EEC harnesses and sensors.

It can surely be done, hard to say "step by step" so many things can go wrong mostly with the wiring.

One of the problems will be to make your gauges work with the new electronics.

Seems like it would be a direct replacement. You would need all of the brackets though for alternator, powersteering and a/c compressor, then you would need those parts if your fox ones wont fit.

Be sure to get the ignition and computer

You will have to make some kind of connection to the throttle body that fits the fox body design.

Probably need to check the fan and hood clearance too.

Take the whole exhaust + o2 sensors from the mach 1 too.

Fuel lines to the injectors might be an issue.

It seems like it will be 50% part scavenging. IMHO it will be expensive, a PIA, and money could be better spent on a stroked 351 with a nice blower.

i agree, such a swap is 'worthless' in a sense unless you have oodles of money sitting around and want something rare. otherwise all this money could be spent on a stroked and/or blown combo that will produce way more horsepower.

It does seem like a waste considering I killed one of those in my 90lx just the other day and I have 124,000 miles on my pony. If I had some money to play with I'd have to agree with the others, build a 351 from the block up. That is if ungodly horsepower is what you desire But if you are looking for a rare mustang I'm sure you could make it work$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
