Question 1989 GT convertable... for 500 bucks. a good car to fix and flip?

hi, im new to mustangs. i have an opportunity to get one, and i was wondering if i could just get any general feed back on it.

i had an 85 v8 thunderbird a while back... and i loved it but a guy running a red light took that away from me...

but anyway..

my friend is looking to unload his 89 Gt 5 speed convertable... and hed give it to me for 500 bucks...

it pops out of 2nd and 3rd... but he has a replacement tranny that we would install as part of the deal....

it leaks a little power steering, and im not sure the a/c works, i havent even gotten that far.. it was hard enough to drive it home with a dead battery.

i have to admit i am an import man... and it is sooo different to drivethan my civic. the clutch is super stiff and im affraid i wont stop i step on the brakes... but i like having a convertable 50 v8.

i plan on painting it (myself, i have experience) replacing the transmission, and a tune up... and hope to sell it 6 months, (if i haven't grown attached to it.)

am i on the right path or should i save myself the trouble?

I don't see how you coud go wrong for $500. You could throw it on Ebay and get more than that for it as it sits.
I think I'd tell him to throw in the working tranny and if it drives ok after you've got a deal. This way you'll know if there's anything else wrong and get an idea of how much money you'd have to throw into it before turning it over, though like I said, it's worth more than $500 as it sits.
Be careful though, a vert mustang is mighty fun and that V-8 torque and sweet sound might just make you want to keep it!
Good Luck, and have fun!

I say try to fix it, you can sell it pretty easily if you get it running but you'll probably get addicted.
