Default 1989 Mustang rear end swap

what's up? i have an 1989 mustang gt convertible and i wanted to know what newer rear end would be a direct swap so i can have the 5 lug and disk brakes in the rear. thanks

If you are wanting to do the SN95 brakes, then you need an axle from a '94-98 GT. Really all you need is the axle shafts and the brake parts, it will all bolt to your existing housing. Don't forget the other mods you need to do to the brake system to work with the disc brakes.

You can swap but know the 94 and up rears are slightly wider than the one you have now. You could either swap or upgrade the rear you have now, cost and effort would be about the same but with aftermarket axles you can get better ones than the stockers in a 94-up rear.

As said above the Housings are the same up to 1998 so you can use an entire rear end, or you can take the axles and brake hardware. 99-04 rears are 3" Wider than Stock so you will want to avoid those rears but the brake parts will work.
