Default All SB Fords are Windsors, correct?

Even the beloved, 5.0 is a windsor.

Made in Windsor On.,

Should we get stickers made--- 302w.

Clevelands, Clevland OH.

Is it Midland, or Modified?

Just trying to figure out all engine families.

Ford engines are classified by "family", NOT "small block" or "big block".

All 221, 260, 289, 302(W), 351W (W = Windsor), and 255 V8s are in the same engine family, and that engine family is called....."Windsor". The 351W was the only block in that family that was cast in Windsor, Ontario. The 302 was cast in the Cleveland, OH (same plant as the 351C). Some 302s were cast in Mexico (the famous "Hecho en Mexico" block).

The 351C (C = Cleveland) is in a different engine family...."335 Series" and it's bigger siblings are the 351M (M doesn't stand for anything) and 400 (no M). The 351C was cast in Cleveland, OH ("Cleveland Foundry"). The 351M and 400 were cast in the same Cleveland plant, or two different plants in Michigan ("Dearborn Iron Foundry" or "Michigan Casting Center"). There is also a 302(C) made in Australia, which just a destroked 351C.

Come on now man, you know the 5.0 is a windsor.

The modified refers to 351M and 400, those are from the cleveland family and are absolute garbage along with the 351 cleveland (in my opinion. Thats fine if people dont agree with me, I still think they are junk and wont think any different of them)

The "M" in 351M does not mean "modified or "Midland".

Some say it stands for Michigan, but the M does not stand for anything, it was just supposed represent that is is different from the Windsor. Its just an upside down W.

No problem heavy metal.

So who cares what the M really means in 351M. It shouldnt matter because they are junk anyway!

Oh and the BOSS 302 is not a Cleveland block. It was a 302 block with 4 bolt mains and screw in freeze plugs. The BOSS 302 used 351 Cleveland heads on a 302 block. The trans am race cars of the late 60's and early 70's were restricted to 5 liters (thus 302 ford and 302 chevy) and ford looked to the Cleveland for the large port high flow heads to use on their 302 engine.
