16x8 cobra's..What size tire for low profile and wide?

Hey i have 16x8 cobra r's ...yes i know i should have gone with 17's...i kick myself in the arse now...anyway what size tire would you go with in order to get the low profile wide tire setup....i have 225 55's now and they are ugly.....i was thinking 225 45 but i dont know if that is possible or not...Im dropped on bbk springs 1.5" so lowest profile would be best.....

For looks and launch i would go with the largest(width) tires possible...maybe 245/40 or 35 in the back , and a 225/35 in the front. Lowering a mustang any more than 1.5'' is hard on the stock suspension geometry so 1.5 maybe pushing it. A smaller side wall in the front should prevent the tires from rubbing in tight turns. Maybe go to your locate tire shop, they seems to know what they are talking about.

I would think a 245-40 would be a good overall choice. You shouldn't have any problems with them in the front either. IMO you should get the same size for the front as you do for the rear. That way you can rotate them and get the longest life of the tires.

245/50R16's are the same height as 225/55R16's so it wont change your mileage or speedometer. these tires are kinda expensive since only one car to my knowledge had them and they were on the rear, the car was a Nissan Turbo Z (i dont know which Z car, but one of them). i dont think 245/35 or 245/40 exist but i would go with the 40 if it exists. 35 is too small
