New to the late model mustang world. I just purchased BBK ceramic unequal shorti headers and bbk CAI. advice on the install of both would be great. what to look for, problems, etc. going to try to do this myself with a little help from some mustang friends up here in OH. Also have new plug wires, cap rotor to go in as well, gears go in when the weather breaks and I get her out of the garage.
the cold air kit is easy...self explanatory really, i dont know what to tell ya...it should come with instructions...i guarentee you wont have a problems. with the BBK headers i'd recomend hitting the nuts that bolt the h pipe to the headers with some penetrating oil, hit them real good, and let 'em soak for 10 minutes then get out the impact wrench, set it to 100lbs if you have one. then they should come off no problem. then just unbolt them from the motor, take your time, dont want to strip the holes in the head. while the header is off, scrap off all old header gasket and get a new one which will come with the headers along with new bolts. try not to have anything get into the heads which is rare and even if it does, i doubt it will even hurt anything but try to stay neat. also hit the EGR with penetrating oil too, you will get a new EGR tube with the BBK headers too...so thats not much of a problem. other than that, snakin the new headers in is the only problem really, its pretty easy but u just have to get them in just right, but once there in, they look so much beefer than the stockers...anymore questions, feel free to ask me , i've done both.

Get the copper header gaskets and the locking header nut set (about $40 for the nuts/locks). I removed the motor install hoop that was bolted (I think to the drivers side of the stock headers). I also have the BBK ceramic shorties and had problems rigging up something to hold my dipstick on the drivers side. Still haven't figured that one out though

I would definitely use some type of metal header gasket. The ones that come with the BBKs suck. I also like to use copper gasket spray on both sides of the gasket.
guys, thanks alot, definitely will get better gaskets! Everything came in the mail, (it only took 1 day from Summit, Summit is just plain awesome to deal with). From what I can see, the bbk stuff is very good quality, I was concerned cause of some of the other posts here about BBK. thanks again, will let all know how it goes.
Careful with those BBK headers. They had a whole batch of miswelded ones sent out about a year and a half ago. I was a recipient of a set of those. I went round and round with BBK but in the end I never got my money back. Hopefully they've taken care of that problem by now.
I bought the Ford version and they dropped in perfectly! I learned the hard way to pick the right parts the first time. Hopefully, things go smoothly with your install!
