Whats up guys.. i recently bought my first mustang.. a 94 cobra and i cant seem to get it going fast enough. i got a buddy with a foxbody and a buddy with a 4.6 and they both tear me a new one. i got pulleys, 70mm tb, cold air, 75mm maf, full exhaust, plugs and wires, and some super chip deal in it. could anybody give me some advice on what i could do to pick up a little more power without touching the rear end or opening the motor.
Thanks, much appreciated.

Well I don't know the mods of the fox body or the 4.6 so I'll just go with what I know. Your cobra first off is going to be heavier than the fox so if he has any kind of gear mod at all hes going to kill you right off the bat without talking about anything else he may have done. The 4.6 if its a 99 or newer is packing about 20hp more than you in stock form. If its 96-98 and hes raping you like that, than he at the very least has a gear advantage and who knows what else. 4.6 motors have a lot of breath left when the 302 runs out. So they do very well with steep gears. Bottom line to try to beat them without opening up the motor or putting in gears is gonna be next to impossible. Your only option is to go with nitrous or a supercharger. Nitrous is gonna be the cheapest way and I would suggest at least a 100hp shot to make you a contender.
Going fast cost money period. 94-95 mustangs are heavier than foxes and with stock gearing there dogs. $500 gear swap is mandatory IMO.
If you don't do any gears or some internals to the engine, about all you could do is supercharge it or get a blue bottle. But even then, with the stock gears you'll be hampered. A switch to 3:73's or a 4:10 would make the car feel like a whole different animal.

yep the foxbody has 3.73 and the 4.6 is 02. do you guys think an ignition would help much? i was looking around at msd ignitions and im not really sure what to get. i bought a new block and im trying to get a 347 going. do you think it is safe to run a 100 shot nitrous on the stock internals?
Thanks again,
A 100 shot is at the limit I'd recommend using with stock internals but yes, you can use it.
An aftermarket system can help, but it'd really be of use the more powerful the engine is. The stock ignition is actually pretty good. You could get one now and it'll smooth everything out, it'll run cleaner, rev better, and when you add to the engine's output it'll maintain that.

I don't see a line locker being much help with your mods. I know you said you did not want to touch the rearend, but with the added weight of our cars, and the mods that you currently have, a good set of 3.73's would really bring your Cobra to life.
